In a bold and symbolic gesture to commemorate World Polio Day 2025, members of Rotary International District 9111 joined hands with Rotarians from District 9112 and the Nigeria National Polio Plus Committee to take polio advocacy to breathtaking heights.

As a testament to resilience, unity, and the enduring fight to end polio, the Rotarians, over 300 in number, on Friday, October 10, 2025, embarked on a journey which began with a train ride from Lagos to Abeokuta, echoing the unstoppable momentum of Rotary’s global fight against polio. Along the way, conversations flowed, fellowship held and banners waved but the mission didn’t stop there.
Upon arrival in Abeokuta, the District Governor of Rotary International District 9111, Prince Henry Akinyele and the District Governor of Rotary International District 9112, Rtn Lanre Adedoyin embarked on a symbolic horseback procession through the Adire (tye and dye) Market in the heart of the city, capturing the attention and admiration of residents. Dressed in vibrant Rotary regalia and holding the signature red End Polio Now flags high, they carried their message of hope and resilience to the historic site of Olumo Rock.

Climbing through the rock, the Rotarians ascended the peak where the ‘Keep Polio at Zero’ and ‘End Polio Now’ flags were hoisted sending a bold message across the land: Polio may be tough, but our resolve is tougher.

This unforgettable journey is a tribute to the progress made, a striking emblem of hope, progress, and Rotary’s unwavering commitment to a polio-free world. It is a bold declaration that we won’t stop until polio is gone for good, a call to action for the final push: a world completely free of polio.
