A truly heartwarming moment for the Rotary family!
What began as a routine official visit by the District Governor, Prince Henry Akinyele to the Rotary Club of Obantoko, Abeokuta on Thursday, September 18, 2025 led to something special that we never saw coming, a story we will cherish forever.
The day began with purpose: a groundbreaking ceremony for a new toilet facility in a primary school, followed by a meeting with the board members of the club. But the highlight came when Rtn. (Mrs) Adebola Safiu-Kolawole, radiant and heavily pregnant, made the highest contribution to the Polio Fund of The Rotary Foundation towards becoming a “Paul Harris Fellow”.
In celebration, she received an “End Polio Now” teddy bear and in a lighthearted moment, the District Governor playfully suggested that her unborn baby be named after Rotary’s founder, Paul Harris.
Fast forward to Sunday, October 12, 2025, Baby boy arrived safely, healthy, and full of promise, and yes, he was named PAUL.
Meet our very own “Paul Harris Baby” — Baby Paul Kolawole.
A symbol of love.
A symbol of service.
A symbol of Rotary’s legacy living on.
The Club President Rtn. Omotoke Ilesanmi shared the moment beautifully:
“That moment was not only symbolic but also deeply emotional. It reflected her spirit of giving and her strong commitment to the ideals of Rotary. Seeing her safely delivered of a baby boy whom she named after Paul Harris fills me with immense joy and gratitude.
As United President of the Rotary Club of Obantoko, I feel profoundly blessed to witness such a beautiful connection between service, faith, and life itself. This experience reminded me that every act of giving in Rotary creates ripples of blessings that go beyond our imagination. Truly, Service Above Self is a gift that keeps giving”
Welcome to the world, Baby Paul. The Rotary family is honored to receive you.
