The official visit of the District Governor, Prince Henry Akinyele started with his home club- Rotary Club of Maryland, Ikeja following his assumption of office on Tuesday, July 1, 2025.
The club currently led by the United President, Rtn Bello Bidemi Maruf leveraged on the homecoming of the DG to commission several projects in Wasimi Primary Health Care Centre in Maryland, Lagos.
Rotary Club of Maryland, Ikeja not only provided the hospital with electric power supply and renovated the dilapidated areas of the hospital, but the club also equipped the hospital with Rotary-customized beddings. Delivery kits were also distributed to the pregnant women in the hospital.
The club, as part of its contribution towards having a polio free world, also organized a polio immunization session during which the DG participated in the immunization of one of the children in the hospital.
The DG was taken on a tour around the hospital to see the items donated to the hospital by the club. DG Akinyele congratulated the club and also the beneficiaries of the impactful project.
"Sustainability is key in our project planning. Please let's take care of these things so that when they come back here and see that what they did is well taken care of, they will be willing to do another thing for you", the DG charged the hospital management.
The Rotarians were well received and appreciated by Nurse Ojo, Senior Nursing Officer of the hospital who appreciated the club on behalf of the hospital.
Hon Gbenga Adedeji, Councilor for Ward C, Onigbongbo LGA also appreciated the club on behalf of members of the community saying, "The last time you came to do a project here, we were all happy so when the Nursing Officer told me that you are coming again, I felt on top of the world. On behalf of the community, we say a big thank you".
The DG who also carried out an immunization exercise on a child in the hospital was accompanied by the District Executive Secretary, Rtn Michael Effiong, District Treasurer PP Kunle Adeniyi and the Chief of Staff, PAG Busola Satuyi.
