
The pioneer District Governor, Rotary International District 9111, Dr Oluwole Kukoyi on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, received a vocational training team who were sponsored to India for a two-week training by a global grant fund.

Members of the team received by the DG at the Rotary Centre in Ikeja, Lagos include Dr Enemuoh Ekene, an Optamologist; Dr Olumodeji Ufoma, also an Opthamologist; Dr Idoko Malachi, an Optometrist) and leading the team is Rtn PAG Dr Solu Sotunde, an Ophthalmic Nurse.
Facilitation of the vocational training sponsorship process started during 2022-2023 Rotary year, continued in the 2023-2024 Rotary year and finally materialized this 2024-2025 Rotary year.


The training- Optamology with specialization on Retinopathy of prematurity (ROP) babies with eye problems took place in Radhatri Nethralaya Hospital in Chennai, India.
Members of the team departed Nigeria on August 24, 2024 and returned on September 7 2024. While in India, they also shared fellowship with 96 years old Rotary Club of Madras, Rotary Club of Menambakkam, and Rotary Club of Chennai Green City all in District 3234.


They took turns to share their experiences while in India and displayed the medical tools they came back with while seeking for ways through which they can put their new skills to effective use for the benefit of the country.
