The pioneer District Governor, Rotary International District 9111, (Dr) Oluwole Kukoyi was hosted to a surprise birthday party in celebration of his 69th birthday on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
The DG who was accompanied by his spouse, Rev (Mrs) Olusola Kukoyi, daughter- Wolesola, and grandchildren was caught unaware as he was made to believe that they were headed somewhere else. His face was covered with shock as he made his way into the hall with his spouse by his wife.
The elated DG walked into a beautifully decorated reception filled with members of his family, his friends, Past District Governors and district leaders from both Districts 9111 and 9112, as well as the District Governor Elect for Rotary District 7080, Canada, Rtn Uche Okugo and the pioneer District Governor of Rotary District 9112, Rtn Femi Adenekan. District 9111 Governor Elect (Prince) Henry Akinyele and District 9111 Governor Nominee Bukola Bakare were also present.
The Irresistible President of the District Governor's Home Club- Rotary Club of Ota, Rtn Chief (Dr) Jackie Adunni-Kasim was present while other Irresistible Presidents were also well represented by the EXCOs led by the Captain, Rtn Jide Ogunleye.
It was indeed an evening of fun and laughter perfectly put together by a team of Rotarians who the celebrant jokingly described in his speech as "Coup Plotters" led by Past District Governor Omotunde Lawson, FCAI who was present with her spouse, Rtn Francis.
The high point of the event was when the celebrant's spouse, brother and other Rotarians took to the stage to narrate their relationship with him.
