
The pioneer District Governor, Rotary International District 9111, Dr Oluwole Kukoyi has just launched the Ado-Odo Ecosystem Sustainability Project in Ado-Odo community in Ota, Ogun state.

The Ado-Odo Ecosystem Sustainability Project was launched in partnership with Providus Bank Plc and Ado Odo Kingdom Friday, March 21, 2025 to commemoratek this year’s World Tree Planting Day.
This landmark project, sponsored by Providus Bank, involved the planting of over 5,000 coconut trees on 6 acres Coconut plantation in the Ijigbo area of Ado Odo Community, reinforcing Rotary’s commitment to environmental sustainability and community development.
In his remarks, District Governor Oluwole Kukoyi emphasized the significance of tree planting in combating climate change, preventing soil erosion, and promoting ecological balance. He applauded Providus Bank Plc for its corporate social responsibility efforts and the Ado Odo Kingdom for embracing sustainable initiatives that will benefit future generations.
As the host and paramount ruler of Ado Odo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Oba Olusola Adebowale Osolo, welcomed the initiative and expressed gratitude to Rotary International District 9111 and Providus Bank for selecting Ado Odo for this impactful project. He highlighted the economic and environmental benefits of coconut trees, including their long-term contribution to the local economy through agro-business opportunities.

While over 5,000 coconut trees have already been planted ahead of the event, 10 coconut trees were ceremonially planted during the event as a symbolic gesture of commitment to sustainability.
The event concluded with the ceremonial planting of coconut trees by District Governor Oluwole Kukoyi, His Royal Majesty Oba Olusola Adebowale Osolo, Oba-in-Council of Ado Odo Kingdom, Providus Bank representatives, and other distinguished guests. Rotarians and members of the Ado Odo community actively participated in the tree-planting exercise, symbolizing their collective responsibility towards a greener future.
Past Assistant Governor Leke Ibrahim, who doubles as a member of the Ado Odo community and a dedicated Rotarian with Rotary Club of Ota, while giving the vote of thanks, expressed gratitude to Providus Bank Plc for their sponsorship, Rotary International District 9111 for initiating the project, and His Royal Majesty, Oba Olusola Adebowale Osolo, for hosting and supporting the initiative. He also thanked all Rotarians, community members, and guests for their presence and commitment to environmental sustainability.
This project not only aligns with Rotary’s seventh area of focus – Supporting the Environment – but also serves as a model for sustainable development, demonstrating the power of collaboration in addressing global environmental challenges at the community level.
