A Month of Gratitude and Celebration!
As we welcome the month of November, I am filled with joy and gratitude. November is a special month for us Rotarians, as it is designated as The Rotary Foundation Month. I am impressed to see the passion and dedication that our district has shown in supporting this worthy cause.
October was an action-packed month for our district. From my official club visits to the various polio campaigns, I am proud of what we have achieved together.
Our train ride to Abeokuta, in collaboration with District 9112, was a huge success, and the hoisting of the polio flag on Olumo Rock was a memorable moment. The installation of our Polio Ambassador, Mrs. Mrs Olaide Ojetokun at Oshodi market was another creative way to take our campaign to the grassroots.
I commend our District Polio Chair, PAG Busola Satuyi, and the entire committee for their outstanding work. My participation with my colleagues in the mass immunization exercise in Abuja and the zonal football match we organised in our district with Mutiu Adepoju, the headmaster as special guest, which raised funds for polio eradication, were reassurances of our commitment to this cause.
Congratulations to Zone 2 for emerging champion of the football match.
Let's keep pushing until we eradicate polio from our world.
Our club visits have been fulfilling, and I am proud to see our clubs making positive impact in their communities. I thank all the clubs who received me and my team warmly. We will continue our visits this month, and I look forward to engaging with more clubs.
I must also mention the fantastic Social Hour with the District Governor, which was a huge success. It was great to see the zones take ownership of the event, making it truly participatory. Special thanks to Faith Band for entertaining us with their melodious tunes - it was an unforgettable evening. Let's do it again in January!
Preparations for our Rotary Foundation Fundraising Dinner and Dance are in full swing. I invite all Rotarians to join us for this auspicious event, dedicated to honoring our Doyen, PDG Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, on his 85th birthday. Admission is free, and all you need to do is make a donation of $500 to the Rotary Foundation. It is buy one get one free..BOGOF (laugh).
I am delighted to report that our donations to the Rotary Foundation have exceeded $100,000. Let's keep pushing to reach our goal of $500,000 by the end of the year. Our membership growth has also been impressive, with a net gain of 260 members in just four months. Let's keep bringing in quality friends into Rotary. Don't let us forget our challenge of "One Bring One".
I look forward to the upcoming zonal summits, and I congratulate Zone 3 on their successful summit. I also wish to acknowledge the Elders Forum Committee for organizing a wonderful event for our Rotarians above 70. The Cleft Lip surgeries have commenced, and we appreciate Rotary for this impactful project.
As we start this new month, I wish you all a blessed November. Let's continue to give to our foundation and bring more friends into Rotary.
I look forward to a fulfilling month ahead, starting with the visit of our Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair, Holger Knack, to the West Africa Project Fair in Lome and the All Nigeria Rotary Convention in Port Harcourt.
Remain blessed
Your DG with Steeze,
Rotarian Prince Henry Akinyele
