
Eight Rotary clubs in District 9111 have come together to carry out free medical outreach in Amuwo Odofin Community.

The clubs, Rotary Clubs of Amuwo, Satellite Town, Festac Metropolitan, Lagos West, Canal Estate, Festac Central, Greenfield, and Festac Town started the free medical outreach with a free screening exercise which held between 3rd and 6th of March 2025 with a total number of 73 screened participants at AMC Hosital in Amuwo Odofin area of Lagos state.
Following the successful completion of the screening process, free surgeries are ongoing for screened participants who require surgical treatment in the following areas:
*Herniotomy
*Lumpectomy
*Herniorraphy
*Myomectomy Removal of Fibroids


The District Governor, Rotary International District 9111, Dr Oluwole Kukoyi visited the screening/surgery centre on Monday, March 17 accompanied by the District Executive Secretary, AG Valentine Shomoye and the Personal Assistant to the DG, PAG Abiola Adesina.
As at the time of the DG’s visit to the centre, 6 surgeries had been carried out with more to go.
This free joint surgical mission project was initiated by the Immediate Past President of Rotary Club of Lagos West, Rtn Omolara Akinsanya during her tenure as the president of her club last Rotary year 2023-2024 and executed in collaboration with other Hope Presidents in the zone.

IPP Akinsanya who is also a certified nurse and midwife disclosed that four of the beneficiaries that were operated on last year are now pregnant while one has already put to bed. She and some staff of AMC Hospital are also participating in the medical outreach as volunteers.
While Irresistible Presidents of RC Greenfield-Rtn Nnanna Achiugo; RC of Canal Estate-Rtn Ugwu Joseph; RC Festac Metropolitan-Rtn Eucharia Ohanyere; RC Amuwo-Rtn Bernard Umelo were present during the DG’s visit to the centre, others were ably represented by their club members.


Also participating in the exercise is the Chief Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Lawrence Akinsanya, spouse of Rtn Omolara who also donated his hospital facility for use. The District Governor, in his personal capacity, supported the project with a sum of N500,000.
