Rotary Club of Ota glamorously received the District Governor, Rotary International District 9111, Prince Henry Akinyele on Saturday, October 18, 2025.

Joining the United President, Rtn. Charles Umukoro and other members of the club to receive the United District Governor was the Immediate Past District Governor, Dr. Oluwole Kukoyi. Multiple service projects were carried out by the club during the visit. First was presentation of N2million grant to 20 people at N100,000 each and another N2million no-interest empowerment fund to 20 people at N100,000 payable within 6 months installment.

Next was a courtesy visit to the palace of the Olota of Ota, HRH Oba Professor Adeyemi AbdulKabir Obalanlege who is also a Rotarian. Right there in the palace and with the support of the king, the Palace Secretary was inducted by the District Governor as a Rotarian of Rotary Club of Ota.
The Rotarians then proceeded to St. Michael African Church School, Ota where a newly established Sick Bay was commissioned by the club.

The Club President while presenting the project to the DG, revealed that he was moved to establish a Sick Bay in the school after he attended the school inter house sports sometime ago and had cause to drive a child to the closest Health Centre without any first aid but unfortunately, the boy died before they arrived at the hospital.

“If there was a sick bay and maybe an ordinary glucose to administer to the boy, maybe we could have saved a life that day”, he emotionally stated.
The club further led DG Akinyele to Ijamido Chidren’s Home, Ota where some food items were donated to the home.

The Club President noted that the donation to the home is an annual practice by the club, revealing that the home was built by the club in 1990 after the club had assisted in paying rent severally and commissioned by the then Rotary International President.
“Since then, we have been donating as a club or as individuals”, he said.

The DG commended the club for the laudable projects. “I am highly impressed and I commend them for what they have done so far and all they will still do”, he said while urging them not to relent in their effort to make our world a better place.

Two new members were also formally inducted into the club by the District Governor.
