
Thursday, July 24, 2025, was a joyful day for people of Ototo Olutoye Community in Obafemi Owode Local Government Area of Abeokuta in Ogun State as Rotary Club of Abeokuta, District 9111 under the leadership of the United President, Rtn Ogundipe Aduragbemi Smith commissioned a multi-million Naira solar-powered water project in the community.

The water project which cost N7million was commissioned by the District Governor, Rotary International District 9111, Prince Henry Akinyele alongside the club president and other members of the club.
The District Governor who was on his official visit to the club, accompanied by the District Executive Secretary Michael Effiong the Special Assistant, Babatunde Olawuyi congratulated members of the community for being beneficiaries of such project. “Water is fundamental to health and human dignity”, he said while commending the club for such a laudable project.


In an interview with the press, the club president revealed that the club had initially focused on making the water Solar-powered alone but had to include electric power alternative after the community which currently lack electricity requested for it saying they are expecting to get electric power supply soon.
“I know what it takes to need fresh water because I have tasted the background of not really having so I am more passionate about going deep into the rural areas to meet their needs”, the club president added.


One of the beneficiaries, Folashade Ogundare could not contain her joy as she showered prayers on members of the club. “If there is another word greater than happy, that is how we feel right now. Nothing like this has ever been done in this community before now”, she said.
The club during the club fellowship appreciated founding members of the club, the first female president of the club as well as major donors.
