No fewer than 20 widows in Ewutuntun community and its environs have been empowered by Rotary Club of Ewutuntun under the leadership of Irresistible President Bukonla Alamu.
 
 
The lucky widows were presented with one brand new grinding machines each during the project presentation ceremony on Tuesday, March 25, 2025, at Fallygold Store in Oshodi, Lagos. Not only were the widows given the brand-new grinding machines for free, but they were also trained on how to use and care for the machines.
 
The District Executive Secretary, AG Valentine Shomoye who represented the pioneer District Governor, Dr Oluwole Kukoyi at the event, congratulated the beneficiaries and charged them to ensure they make effective use of the grinding machines so that the machines can serve the purpose they were given which is to provide a stable means of livelihood for the women.
 
 
Past District Governor Patrick Ikheloa who was also at the event, reiterated the purpose of the empowerment by the club which is to enable the widows earn a living while praying that God will help them make good use of the machines such that it will benefit them and at the same time showcase Rotary’s efforts.
 
PP Kudirat Olaopoola, the Chair, Widows Empowerment 2024-2025 and also The Rotary Foundation Chair for the club in her remarks, stated that the event is a significant milestone in the club's efforts to support vulnerable widows in our community.
 
 
 
The Oba of Ewu Kingdom, Oba Shakirudeen Adesina Kuti was ably represented by Prince Samson Aremu, Oso Ade Onikotun who in his remarks, thanked the Rotary Club for its selfless efforts in promoting the wellbeing of members of the community. Also gracing the occasion as part of the District Governor’s team was the District Treasurer, PP Adetayo Hassan.
