Rotary Club of Ikeja has once again demonstrated its commitment to economic empowerment and community development through two impactful humanitarian projects in Lagos.
As part of its annual micro-business empowerment programme, the club, under the leadership of President Rtn. Olukayode Osokomaiya, on Monday, July 7 provided financial support to 40 small business owners at Isolo Obada Market, Lagos.
Each beneficiary received a grant of ₦50,000 to help strengthen and expand their businesses.
In addition to supporting entrepreneurs, the club donated five sewing machines to graduates of the Nigerian Air Force Officers’ Wives Association (NAFOWA) Vocational and ICT Centre. The donation is aimed at helping the graduates become self-reliant by providing them with the tools needed to establish or grow their tailoring businesses.
The District Governor, Rotary International District 9111 who was on her official visit to the club commended the club members for always providing succor to the market women and the needy at large through their annual empowerment program.
The Supervisor of the centre, Mrs. Folakemi Odesola, expressed heartfelt appreciation to Rotary Club of Ikeja for its consistent support and investment in vocational skills development.
Similarly, Alhaja Wosilatu Yusuf Saka, women leader of Isolo Obada market thanked the club for its generosity, noting that the financial assistance would go a long way in supporting her business.
Both the micro-business empowerment initiative and the donation of sewing machines are longstanding annual humanitarian projects of Rotary Club of Ikeja, reflecting the club’s unwavering commitment to creating sustainable economic opportunities and improving livelihoods within its host communities.
