The Rotary Club of New Oko-Oba Metropolitan, Rotary International District 9111, has commissioned the newly renovated library of New Oko-Oba Community Primary School. The commissioning took place on Thursday, October 30, 2025, during the official visit of the District Governor, Rtn. Prince Henry Akinyele.
The District Governor, accompanied by the Club President, Rtn. Olasoji Jegede, and other members of the club, formally unveiled the upgraded library facility. Beyond renovating the space, the club also furnished it with educational materials to create a more conducive and inspiring learning environment for the pupils.
In his remarks, the District Governor commended the club for the impactful project, noting that the new library will go a long way in promoting a strong reading culture among the students and supporting academic excellence.
Also speaking at the event, the Executive Chairman of Ojokoro LCDA, Hon. (Barr.) Oluyemisi Rosiji, praised the club for prioritizing education. She emphasized that a well-equipped and welcoming library serves as a vital source of motivation and a foundation for lifelong learning.
In addition to the library project, the club extended community support by empowering indigent residents with charcoal cooking pots. This initiative aims to alleviate the economic burden caused by the rising cost and scarcity of cooking gas.
The event was graced by the Baale of the Community, Chief Pedro Omololu—fondly referred to as the club’s Ambassador in the community who expressed heartfelt appreciation. The Divisional Police Officer, Aliyu Kawunda, was also in attendance.
Representing the Education Secretary for Ifako-Ijaiye was the Social Mobilization Officer, Mrs. Florence Adegbuyi, alongside the Head Teacher of the school, Mrs. Olarinde Esther, who expressed joy and gratitude for the much-needed intervention.
