Thirty micro business owners in Lagos have received a major boost to their businesses as Rotary Club of Omole Golden disbursed ₦5 million in microcredit to beneficiaries as part of its annual economic empowerment programme.
The initiative, aimed at supporting small-scale entrepreneurs within the club’s host community, was carried out during the official visit of the District Governor, Rotary International District 9111, Rtn Bukola Bakare, to the club on Friday, July 3, 2026.
Under the leadership of the club’s President for the 2026–2027 Rotary year, Rtn Omowunmi Bakare, a total of 30 beneficiaries received interest-free microcredit to strengthen and expand their businesses, reaffirming Rotary’s commitment to economic and community development.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Oladeji Olaniyi, a visually impaired artisan who specializes in beaded bag making, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the club. He disclosed that he has benefited from the Rotary Club of Omole Golden’s microcredit programme since 2018, describing the initiative as life-changing and instrumental to the growth of his business.
The District Governor commended the club for its unwavering dedication to empowering members of the community through sustainable humanitarian projects, noting that economic empowerment remains a vital tool for improving lives and creating lasting impact.
The visit also featured the induction of two new members into the Rotary family, with the District Governor officially welcoming them as Rotarians and encouraging them to uphold Rotary’s ideals of service above self.
