The Rotary Foundation Fundraising Dinner, held at the iconic Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos on Saturday, November 29, 2025, was a beautiful fusion of purpose and celebration for Rotary International District 9111.
Each year, distinguished leaders, humanitarian champions, and change makers are convened to support The Rotary Foundation, a world-renowned non-profit dedicated to advancing global understanding, peace, and sustainable humanitarian impact through educational, cultural, and community-based initiatives, funded entirely by voluntary contributions.
This year’s edition stood out in extraordinary fashion. Beyond raising critical funds, the district paid glowing tribute to a towering pillar of Rotary in Nigeria, a man whose life defines service.
The honouree, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi, mni, a Past District Governor of Rotary International District 9111, remains the Doyen of Past District Governors in Nigeria and the pioneer District Governor of the very first Rotary district in the country. His enduring legacy has birthed multiple districts and Rotary clubs nationwide, which continuously delivers hope, healing, and help to underserved communities.
Fresh from celebrating his 85th birthday, Prince Adelusi-Adeluyi was specially honoured alongside his beloved spouse, Juliana Adelusi-Adeluyi, in a heartfelt celebration of love, service, and impact. The evening came alive as Rotarians and Rotary leaders from across Nigeria gathered in unity, celebrating a pathfinder who set the standard for generations to follow.
A major highlight of the night was the launch of the Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi Endowment Fund, an initiative of the District Governor, Prince Henry Akinyele, targeted at $250,000 to sustain and expand Rotary’s life-changing work.
The prestigious occasion was graced by the Rotary International President-Elect, Rtn. Yinka Babalola, The Rotary Foundation Trustee, Rtn. Ijeoma Pearl Okoro, the District Governor of Rotary District 9112, Rtn. Lanre Adedoyin, alongside past and future District Governors and other distinguished Rotary leaders.
