Rotarian Dr. Oluwole Olajide Kukoyi, a member of Rotary Club of Ota has just been installed as the first District Governor of Rotary International District 9111, one of the two new districts carved out of the former Rotary International District 9110.
 
 
Rtn Kukoyi, a seasoned health practitioner and Chief Medical Director of ACE Medicare Clinics, Ota in Ogun state was installed on Saturday, July 6 at the Balmoral Hall of Sheraton Hotel in Lagos, Nigeria in a colourful installation and fundraising ceremony amidst his spouse, Rev. Mrs. Olusola, his children, grandchildren, friends, Rotarians, and well-wishers.
 
Rotarians, family, guests and friends from far and near trooped into the beautifully decorated hall in numbers to celebrate the newly installed DG Kukoyi and contribute to his projects lined up for the Rotary year. He will lead the new District 9111 from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025 during which he will be carrying out numerous impactful service projects in various areas.
 
 
DG Kukoyi, while delivering his speech, highlighted his projects for this Rotary year. He mentioned the building of a Sickle Cell Disease Centre as his key project disclosing that the Ogun State Government already donated a land in the State Hospital, Ota, Ogun state for the projects.
He further revealed that the foundation stone for the building was laid on Wednesday, July 3, disclosing it is targeted to be completed in a short period, adding that the Rotary District has already partnered with the National Sickle Cell Centre to ensure that the project is successful.
 
The Deputy Governor of Ogun State, Engr. Noimot Salako-Oyedele in her remarks congratulated the new DG saying, “Dr. Kukoyi’s selection as District Governor is a testament of his exemplary dedication, tireless efforts and significant contributions to the Rotary mission.
"As he steps into this post with the added task of being the pioneer District Governor of this newly formed district, Dr. Kukoyi’s vast experience, compassion and visionary attributes will greatly position him towards heights of excellence and service. I have every confidence that he will continue to lead with the same commitment that has characterized his journey so far”, she said.
 
 
“As the Deputy Governor of Ogun state, I am particularly proud of the strong partnership between Rotary and our state. This collaboration is instrumental towards driving various community development initiatives”, she added.
 
The installation ceremony was well attended by Past District Governors of the former Rotary International District 9110 led by the Doyen, Rtn. Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi; District 9111 Governor Elect, Rtn. Henry Akinyele and District 9111 Governor Nominee, Rtn. Bukola Bakare; the first District Governor of Rotary International District 9112, Rtn. Femi Adenekan; other district leaders both from District 9111, 9112, and other districts in Nigeria.
 
 
Gracing the event was Deputy Governor of the Deputy Governor of Lagos State, Dr. Obafemi Hamzat represented by the Special Adviser on Works, Rtn. Engr. Adekunle Olayinka; spouse of Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo, Mrs Bola; Commissioner for Housing, Hon Jagunmolu Akande Omoniyi and Commissioner for Women Affairs, Hon Adijat Adeleye, both are Rotarians with Rotary Club of Abeokuta. Royal fathers present include HRM Oba Adeyemi Obalanlege; Oba Aderemi Ogunye; among others. Bishop Dr. Taiwo, Pastor and Mrs Akinola, Bishop Akin Atere, were also present with Mr Olufemi Bakare, the Chief Launcher.
