Rotary Club of Amuwo under the leadership of the Irresistible President, Rtn. Bernard Umelo has just disbursed a no-interest revolving loan to petty traders in the community.
This is an annual matching grant project by the club in collaboration with Rotary Clubs of Waunakee and Madison West Town Middleton, USA supported the former Rotary District 9110, Nigeria and District 6250 Wisconsin, USA, as well as The Rotary Foundation having started in September 2005.
It started with a seed money of $11,260(about N1.6million then) and to date, has granted a total loan of N18,285,000 to 217 women belonging to a credit group called Women United Against Poverty.
A sum of N2,400,000 was presented to 9 women during the official visit of the pioneer District Governor, Rotary International District 9111, Rtn. (Dr.) Wole Kukoyi.
