
Rotary Club of Maryland on Tuesday, July 9, 2024 carried out several projects to commemorate the official visit of the pioneer District Governor for the new Rotary International District 9111, Rtn. (Dr) Oluwole Kukoyi to the club.
The club led by the Club President, Rtn. Olalekan Olubajo started the visit with the distribution of sanitary pads to female students of Community Senior High School, Wasimi in Maryland, Lagos, Nigeria.
The club President who leveraged on the official visit of the DG to carry out the project revealed that the project which he coined "Pad the Girls" is part of the club's effort towards ensuring that young girls maintain hygiene during their menstrual flow, especially at this period when the country is facing economic challenges.


8 cartons of 16 packs of pad were distributed to the students while a lecture on ‘Hygiene’ and ‘Sicke Cell’ taken by Rtn Dr. Iyinoluwa Aremu who is also a member of the club was also organized for the students by the club.
Witnessing the exercise was the School Principal, Mrs Abimbola Okoilu, District Governor Elect, Henry Akinyele who is also a member of the club, members of the DG’s core team as well as other members of the club.
The club also unveiled a “Say No to Bullying” billboard and ‘Roll of Honour’ banner at Community Senior High School, Wasimi in Maryland, Lagos. 6 beneficiaries were also presented with a cheque of N600, 000 at N100, 000 each in the club's annual empowerment programme.
In addition, a radio appearance was made by the DG and the Club President on a pidgin programme as part of the club's public image drive for this Rotary year.
