Rotary Club of Ikeja has just given out N1.2million each to 40 petty traders as part of the club’s annual economic empowerment programme.
The club leveraged on the official visit of the pioneer District Governor, Rtn. Dr. Wole Kukoyi to carry out the empowerment project.
The Club President, Rtn. Kayode Shitu while presenting the project revealed that the club used to give N25, 000 to 20 people but this Rotary year and with the support of a past president of the club, the club increased the fund to N30, 000 40 beneficiaries.
The club also gave out two gas cookers, two sewing machines and two hairdryers to NAFOWA training school. This is also an annual project by the club. District Governor Kukoyi who was accompanied on the visit by his spouse, Rev. Olusola and members of his core team congratulated the club for the double projects executed being the first day of the new Rotary year.
Gracing the occasion was the Doyen of Past District 9110 Governors, Prince Julius Adelusi-Adeluyi who is also a member of the club. Also present were some other club presidents who accompanied the DG and are also present to give moral support to their fellow president of Rotary Club of Ikeja.
